Meeting Date: February 20, 2008 Attendance General: 21 Officers: 4 Special guests: none Club president Ron Magdanz called the meeting to order at 7:05pm Secretary’s report was read by Eric Johnson Motion to accept secretary’s report: Matt Stake Second the motion: Jeff Looker Treasurer’s report was read by club treasurer, Jerry Quella Motion to accept treasures report: Kyle Quella Second the motion: Wayne Vanhandle Old Business AWAY SERIES: Ron Magdanz addressed the club on the current state of the away series schedule 141 Speedway: 141 did not invite the club back in 2008. Slinger Speedway: Slinger has offered a second date. (June 1st) It would be the same format as last year. 1 practice, 2 heats and a feature Jerry Quella mentioned that last year Slinger had radio commercials advertising the Wisconsin Sport Trucks. He said they like the club there. A straw vote was taken to determine if the club should pursue a 2nd Slinger date. 15 in favour, 1 against Plover: Plover said a 4th date would be unlikely to happen. Ron said he will continue to work with Plover on getting a 4th date. A straw vote was taken to determine if the club should pursue a 4th Plover date Unanimous in favour Madison: Madison only offered the weekend in September. Dells Raceway Park: DRP offered a second date. They listed 5 dates to choose one from. The dates were June 7, July 12, July 26, August 9, and August 16 Pay would be in the $40 range It was mentioned it is a very long drive for a one night show A straw vote was taken to determine if the club should pursue a 2nd DRP date. 11 in favour, 4 against It was decided that the club would pursue one of the August dates Josh Jeske suggested running the Red, White, and Blue series at WIR Jerry Quella said the problem with that would be that the half mile cars pit on the quarter mile. We would likely only get one race at the end of the night. The club agreed that if pay would be at least $40 they would be content with only running one race per night. A straw vote was taken to determine if the club should pursue the Red, White, and Blue series. 10 in favour, 7 against Ron Magdanz suggested a 9 race schedule with two contingencies May 16 – Plover May 26 – Plover June 1 – Slinger June 14 – WIR (RWB) July 19 – WIR (RWB) July 27 – Slinger August 1 – Plover August 16 – WIR (RWB) September 13 – DRP Contingency #1: If Plover would give a 4th date the June Slinger date would be dropped Contingency #2: If unable to run the Red, White, and Blue series then the club would pick up a second DRP date Ron said he would talk to Dave Valentine about the Red, White, and Blue series at the February FRRC meeting. Ron will post the 2008 away series schedule on the web site as soon as it is finalized New Business RADIOS: Ron researched the Receiver one way radio. Ron found a new model of Receiver. The info he found is as listed… Includes a 3 year warranty Battery life is 24 running hours Requires 1 AAA battery New ear buds have a 110db rating It is “vibration proof” It is compatible with any radio It takes 2 hands to change the frequency Cost is about $127 with the better ear buds Rob Vandermoss said at the last FRRC meeting we were asked to run one way radios Tod Kostichka wants to wait a year to see how the new model stands up Ron wants to be proactive and use the radio this year. Kip May thinks we should have a specific person to direct the race Ron Magdanz said that most tracks will work with the Receiver Ron also mentioned Matt Rowe will be renting Receivers at WIR this year Josh Jeske doesn’t think we need a Receiver. He thinks we should police driving more. Rob Vandermoss said the Receiver will help police driving as well as line ups Jerry Quella wants to have the club get a separate radio for a director Brandon Kucksdorf researched radios also. He said the cheapest 2 way radio system he could find was $600 Jason Yeager said he found a 2 way system for $467 Charlie Haven made a motion to make the Receiver mandatory at WIR and used at the away tracks on a case by case basis. Motion made by Charlie Haven Seconded by Jeff Looker 13 in favour, 4 against Motion Carried Todd Kostichka asked for a definition of “case by case” Charlie Haven said they would be run unless the track doesn’t allow it Ron Magdanz said he we will know what tracks will allow them by the March meeting Ron Magdanz said he will post more information on the website as he gets it. Charlie Haven wants to have a list made of people who will need a Receiver VOTING RULES: Josh Jeske wants voting to be policed better. He said there are people who where members last year that are voting on this years issues before their memberships are purchased Rob Vandermoss said this has been allowed for 25 years. By March most of the memberships are paid for. Jeff Looker said memberships aren’t due until February anyway Charlie Haven mentioned that the memberships are good Jan 1st through Dec 31st, so all of the voting that has taken place this off season was done by members Ron Magdanz said everyone was under the assumption they could vote Ron Magdanz said this will be enforced better next year TECHING: Jason Yeager and Brandon Kucksdorf volunteered to be inspectors Ron talked to Ryan Hieting, Ryan is willing to be an inspector next year John Roeser said he will help with tech day Ron said he will continue to search for an outside person to be an inspector Tech day is tentatively scheduled on May 3rd at Randercar. Teching will begin at 9am. An official meeting will start at noon FRRC RULE CHANGES: The FRRC rule changes that affect the club are: TIME LIMIT ON RACES Qualifying Races -------- 8 laps------ 8 min or 2 cautions Semi Feature ------------ 10 laps Feature -------------------- 20 laps DOUBLE FILE RESTARTS Pick a lane like last year PRICE OF WISCONSIN SPORT TRUCK MEMBERSHIPS AND REGISTRATION WILL GO UP AFTER THE FEBRUARY MEETING DYNOPORT MUFFLER Rob Vandermoss said the dynoport mufflers are available again. He can get them for $220 Peggy Rusch said the dynoport dealer suggested a cigar type muffler instead of the big muffler. Rob Vandermoss said the big muffler doesn’t seem to have any negative affect on horse power Ron Magdanz said if anyone is interested contact Rob Vandermoss to order one OTHER TOPICS Todd Kostichka asked if he can still get a discount on transponders Jerry Quella said he will check with the FRRC at their February meeting Jerry Quella mentioned that parts will be done in about 2 weeks For in car Camera info see Brandon Kucksdorf The Club is still looking for sponsorship.
